Felipe Camargo, successful year 2014

110675SINGING ROCK athlete Felipe Camargo (BRA) can be really satisfied with the year 2014. He was successful in bouldering as well as in rock climbing.

During the year he managed to climb a lot of hard boulders in various corners of the world, but the best goal he achieved in his own country. There he made the first V15 (≈ 8C) boulder, the first 8C line in Brasil and also in South America. The line is called Fortaleza and it is located in the bouldering area Ubatuba. For many years Fortaleza had been Felipe's only theoretical project. He started trying to climb it in September 2013 and after several weekend trips he finally sent it in July 2014. Congratulation! (You can read a short interview about the first ascent on DPM Climbing or take a look at an article in Spanish from the Escalar magazine.)

Fortaleza V15 (≈ 8C)

(update Jan 2015: EpicTV published a short video documenting this project)

As for rock climbing we have to mention the repeating of the
Atalho do Diabo route (The Devil’s Shortcut) on Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro. It is a 8 pithches bigwall with a length of 300 meters (the hardest pitch is the 2nd with some 8a+/8b, according to the French scale). Felipe repeated the devil’s shortcut in tandem with his buddy David Lama in October 2014. Hats off to them!

Felipe and David were accompanied by a Red Bull's film crew, thus we can watch their ascent on Corcovado in a few very nice videos:

We congratulate Felipe on his climbing achievemnets and wish him sound health and a lot of power in 2015. Let's wait what Filipe climbs in the next year :)
