Lucie Hrozova Czech champion in drytooling

104025Lucie Hrozová started this year's competition season with a victory in the International Championship of the Czech Republic in dry-tooling BLACK DIAMOND Drytoolcup, attended by more than 50 climbers from a total of six countries. There were representatives of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland and Austria.

This was already the third time Lucie Hrozová achieved the victory, and by winning also the speed discipline she confirmed her unique position not only among the Czech competition athletes.

The final route was titled “The strength of tenderness”, its length approximately 25 m and difficulty M8+. The key place to win a medal appeared to be the passage of a traverse structure past the half of the route. The final climber to start this route was our, currently the most experienced athlete, Lucie Hrozová. An M8+ route was not an obstacle for a woman who was the first in the world to climb a M14. She reached yet another TOP and since she completed the route in more than two minutes faster than Martina Kratochvílová, she deservedly became the international champion of the Czech Republic in lead dry-tooling 2013.

SINGING ROCK had its representatives also in the men’s category; Mirek Matějec and Pavel “Bača” Vrtík. The final route for men bore the name “End of darkness” and was dedicated to the memory of Ján Šofránko, Dino Kuráň, Jakub Macek and Zdeněk Hrubý who unfortunately died in the mountains in the past season. To honour the memory of these climbing friends, men challenged an almost 30-m long route of difficulty M10.

Mirek Matějec, by far the best dry-tool climber on the rocks, set off for the final route from the third qualifying place. After a slightly nervous start he attained a nice balance in a difficult middle stretch but fell down just below the highest point reached by Alexander Mataruga. In the final ranking he was on the 5th place, followed by Pavel Vrtík, who was the first one to overcome a step in the middle of the route on a traverse structure but the top stretch of the route was beyond his powers.
