Nina Kovaříková and her first 8a

101483A talented 12-year old Slovak climber, Nina Kovaříková, has finally gained her own 8a.

Nina Kovaříková (Singing Rock, Boreal, SHS JAMES) has climbed recently on Alternatívná stena, (Slovakia) route Ochcaný kapesník, 8a, and become a member of the Club of 8a.

"Ochcaný Kapesník" is a 25 m long, sport, slightly overhanging route that is (so far) among the ten most difficult routes of Alternatívna stena.

Radim Kovařík (father and trainer) said: "It is the route done by Tomáš “Svišť” Pilka and is considered 8a, the only route of ‘the Western type’ far and wide. The overhanging beginning with boulder problem, power pulling over relatively good holds, after a breather in the middle again a difficult boulder. The route is 25 meters long, as it has been made longer of 5 meters by Vlado Linek and again completely rebolted under the supervision of the author Svišť.”

Ninka has climbed with her parents since she was five years old and her first route (on PP) was the Lego 4 + (Malý Manín, Slovakia). She also spent some time in the care of the coach Helena Lipenská. She enjoys everything about climbing, but she prefers rather shorter, well protected boulder routes. Climbing is her favourite activity and hopefully it will last for a long time.

More photos and video from this ascent is coming soon...
