SINGING ROCK Drytool at JAMES Meeting 2014
The contest was quite simple, we counted who can make it forth and back on a 3.2 m long board with holes for ice axes. It was interesting to watch how individual competitors opted for different tactics. Some of them only made their way with pull-ups, some were unable to hit the drilled holes, so they cut their own hole in the board, some tried a “bat”, and someone’s legs and hands got really entangled. But everyone tried really hard and despite initial technical problems they fought for the main prize, a couple of Bandit ice axes for mix and ice.
Overall, the course of the contest was smooth and it was very attractive for the public, so we will repeat this context in other years of the traditional JAMES climbing week. So everyone who did not take part this year can train all year to win the main prize next year.
Thanks to the organizers of the 90th THT JAMES for the invitation and to all the contestants for their participation in the contest, and we look forward to meeting them soon again.
